About the method

How the Tomatis® Method works

Developed by French doctor and researcher Alfred Tomatis, the Tomatis® Method uses advanced technology and the guidance of trained professionals. The ear is the most powerful sensory integrator of the human body — more than 80% of the stimulation the brain receives comes through it.

(80% figure: Tomatis organisation. Confidence: ~85% — this is widely cited in Tomatis literature; independent verification recommended for clinical use.)

By working with the ear’s role in cerebral stimulation and neuroplasticity, the Tomatis® Method has consistent effects across a wide range of areas — from language and learning to emotional regulation and sensory processing.

It is a complementary tool and can be used alongside most therapeutic or educational support. It can be used at any age.

What families notice

Changes that families and schools both notice

For children with sensory, social and communication difficulties, the changes that follow Tomatis® are often visible to everyone around them — not just at home but in school and in wider social situations.

The programme supports the nervous system to regulate more effectively, which tends to make everything else easier — learning, social interaction, managing transitions and coping with the unexpected.

“He is ignoring other children when they are heightened and not reacting to them — he would usually have kicked or hit. We see major progress in the last few weeks.”

“He stayed settled, gave high fives and kisses. She couldn’t believe how settled he was. He managed over an hour with adults he didn’t know. Absolutely amazing progress.”
